ChequeMaster prints against a cheque book, not a blank page. A cheque book records which bank account the cheques belong to, which layout to print with, and which numbers are in the book — which is how the software can tell you later what was issued on cheque 150347.

Open Cheque Book from the left navigation and click Add Cheque Book.

Filling in the form

Bank and bank account

Pick the bank first — that filters the Bank Account dropdown to accounts held at that bank. If the account is not there yet, click +ADD beside the dropdown, fill in the details in the popup, and submit. The new account is created and selected without leaving the page.

Cheque layout

The layout controls where each detail prints on the paper. Most banks are already included, so you are usually just picking yours from the list. If it is missing, the same +ADD shortcut lets you create one, or see building a cheque layout from a scan.

Book name

This is only for you, and it is worth a moment of thought. You will choose from this list every time you print, so "HDFC Current – 150301 to 150400" beats "Book 1" once you have four books open across two accounts.

Cheque numbers

Enter the number printed on the first leaf in Cheque No. From, then how many leaves the book holds in Total Cheques. ChequeMaster generates the whole range from those two values, so a book starting at 150301 with 50 leaves gives you 150301 to 150350.

Get this right from the physical book in your hand. If the range does not match the paper, every cheque you print will be recorded against the wrong number.

After it is created

Click Save and the book appears with all its cheques listed. From here you can rename it, switch its layout, change its status, or set extra lines.

Defaults worth setting now

Each book carries its own defaults, and setting them once saves repeating yourself on every cheque:

  • Print Language — the language for this book's cheques.
  • A/C Payee Text — what prints in the crossing.
  • Bearer Text — the bearer wording, where your cheque uses one.
  • Not Above Text — the ceiling line some businesses print above the amount.

Click Save Settings after changing them. These are defaults, not locks — you can still override any of them on an individual cheque at print time.

With the book in place you are ready to print a cheque.
