ChequeGuru (chequeprintingsoftware.com) is the closest comparison to ChequeMaster in the Indian market, including on price. If you are choosing between them, here is what actually differs.
Price
| ChequeMaster | ChequeGuru | |
|---|---|---|
| India price | ₹950 (from ₹7,999) | ₹1,000 + 18% GST (from ₹2,000) |
| Model | One-time, unlimited validity | One-time |
| Updates included | 6 months | Lifetime updates advertised |
| Money-back | 7 days | — |
Effectively the same price. ChequeGuru advertises lifetime updates where we include six months — that is a genuine advantage to them, and worth weighing if long-term update entitlement matters to you.
Trials — their model is better for evaluation
ChequeGuru offers a 15-day fully-featured free trial, no card required. ChequeMaster offers a free edition that never expires but is capped at two payees and two cheque books, with no reports or vouchers.
If you want to evaluate reports and vouchers before buying, theirs is the better arrangement. Ours is better if you want a permanently free tool for light personal use. We would rather say that than pretend otherwise.
Geographic coverage — where we differ most
ChequeGuru is built around Indian banks and advertises a 24-bank template hub. ChequeMaster carries 105 bank cheque layouts across 19 countries, including 37 Indian banks and 30 across the Gulf.
Which matters depends entirely on you:
- India only? Both cover the major banks. Our Indian coverage extends further into co-operative banks — Saraswat, Cosmos, Surat People's, Kalupur, Nutan Nagarik, Ahmedabad District — which are often the ones missing elsewhere.
- India plus the Gulf? This is where we are genuinely different. Gulf cheques are not standardised — sizes run from 155 x 87 mm to 221 x 115 mm — and each needs its own layout. See supported formats.
Currency handling
Worth mentioning because it is specific: ChequeMaster supports three decimal places, required for the Kuwaiti and Bahraini dinars and the Omani rial. If you never write cheques in those currencies it is irrelevant. If you do, two decimals cannot express the amount correctly. See amount in words rules.
Where your data sits
ChequeMaster is a Windows desktop application and stores its database on your own PC. Nothing is uploaded to us.
That cuts both ways, and you should decide which side you want:
- For it: your payment history is not on anyone's server.
- Against it: backups are your responsibility, and there is no access from another machine. See backing up your data.
Our other limitations
- Windows only. No macOS or Linux build.
- One PC per licence. Three users means three licences.
- No accounting integration. CSV payee import is the bridge — see printing from Excel or Tally.
How we would decide
Print cheques only for Indian banks and want a full-featured trial first? ChequeGuru's 15-day trial makes evaluation easier.
Print for Gulf banks, or need three-decimal currencies, or want the data to stay on your own machine? That is what we built for.
Either way, test on your own printer with your own bank's cheques before paying — alignment is printer-specific and no comparison table can tell you how your hardware feeds a 93 mm leaf.
