A common question, and it deserves a straight answer: ChequeMaster does not integrate directly with Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho or other accounting packages. There is no plugin, no API connection and no live sync.
What exists is CSV import for payees, which covers the part that actually saves time.
What CSV import does
Your supplier, staff or vendor list almost certainly already exists in your accounting software, and nearly every package exports it to CSV. That file imports into ChequeMaster, so you build your payee list once by export-and-import rather than by retyping. See importing payees from CSV.
It also works in reverse — export your payees to reconcile against your accounts, or to bulk-edit in a spreadsheet and re-import.
What it does not do
- No automatic cheque creation from invoices. You enter the payee, amount and date at print time.
- No live sync. Change a supplier's name in Tally and ChequeMaster does not know.
- No cheque history import. Past cheques from another system cannot be brought in. Your ChequeMaster history starts when you start using it.
A workflow that works in practice
For a monthly supplier run:
- Export your vendor list from the accounting package once, and import it into ChequeMaster.
- Each month, work from your payables report to know who is being paid what.
- Print the cheques — in bulk if there are many.
- Record the payments in your accounting software as you normally would.
- At month end, export ChequeMaster's cheque report and reconcile against the bank statement — see reports and advanced search.
The payee list is entered once. The per-cheque details are entered once, in ChequeMaster rather than on the cheque with a pen.
Whether this suits you
Being honest about the tradeoff: if you want cheques generated automatically from posted invoices with no re-entry, ChequeMaster is not that product. Look for something with a genuine accounting integration.
If what you want is accurate, well-aligned cheques on your bank's stationery with a searchable record — and you are content to enter the payment details once — then the absence of a live integration is unlikely to bother you. Most cheque runs are periodic and modest in number, and the entry is not the slow part.
Printing from Excel specifically
People sometimes build a cheque template in Excel and print from that. It works for a handful of cheques and falls apart at volume: no cheque numbering, no record of what was issued, no status tracking, and alignment maintained by hand in a spreadsheet. If that is your current setup, the payee CSV import is a natural first step across.
