HDFC Bank cheques follow the CTS-2010 standard: 202 x 93 mm, boxed date digits, two amount-in-words lines. The HDFC-specific detail is that there are two layouts, not one.
Standard or Preferred?
ChequeMaster includes HDFC and HDFC Preferred. Both print on the same 202 x 93 paper — Preferred is a premium account tier with its own cheque design.
Look at your cheque book. If the styling does not match what the standard layout produces, switch the cheque book to the Preferred layout. You can change a book's layout after creating it, so testing both costs nothing but a sheet of A4.
How to set it up
- In Settings: amount in words as lakh, decimal digits 2.
- Add a bank account under HDFC Bank.
- Create a cheque book and select HDFC or HDFC Preferred.
- Enter the starting cheque number and leaf count from the book in your hand.
- Test on plain paper; check the date boxes before anything else.
Alignment on boxed dates
The eight date boxes are the tightest constraint on an Indian cheque. If digits straddle the divisions, that is the left margin, adjusted in Settings in half-millimetre steps — not a layout problem. Do not start moving fields around until you have ruled the margin out.
Tier-specific layouts elsewhere
HDFC is not the only Indian bank with a premium variant in ChequeMaster. Union Bank of India has a Gold layout and Standard Chartered has a Priority one, on the same principle: standard CTS-2010 paper, distinct printed design.
