Emirates Islamic and Emirates NBD are part of the same group, which leads people to assume the cheques are interchangeable. They are not. Emirates NBD prints at 202 x 93 mm; Emirates Islamic is 206 x 100 mm — 4 mm wider and 7 mm taller.
Seven millimetres of height is enough to put every field on the wrong line if you pick the wrong layout, so select carefully when you create the cheque book.

The extra room is useful
At 206 mm wide this is one of the roomier UAE cheques, which makes it more forgiving than most. Long payee names fit on the single payee line more often, and the two amount-in-words lines have space to breathe. If you are moving from a compact cheque like FAB's, you may find you can raise the font size a step and gain legibility.

- Add the account under Emirates Islamic — not under Emirates NBD, even though the group is shared. The bank determines which layouts appear.
